Whilst most humans are not explicitly against “nature” – most individuals activities are not focused on sustaining their proximate environments. Collectively, humanity isn’t focused on sustaining the planet’s life support systems (I.e., ecology).
We can term this an alignment problem.
This conflict of interests, between human agendas & “nature’, will ruin civilisations if its not mitigated. For example, humanities proximate interests, such as selling fuels & filling up vehicles fuel tanks, are not aligned with sustaining a stable climate.
The only general way to solve humans ecological negligence, is for human interests to become aligned with “nature”.
Evidently, there are many individuals in businesses that have an agenda that is not aligned with sustaining ecology. Their agenda is to make a monetary profit. Evidently, the fossil fuel industries are forms of business extremists – that have a monetary interest that motivate them to lie about the sciences. And sell products using greenwash.
There is evidently a ‘Human Vs Ecosystem’ alignment problem. It’s an extreme non-alignment (disorganisation), psychological behavioural problem, termed ignorance (e.g., we can also term greed as a form of ignorance)
The broad solution to the eco alignment problem:
Step 1 is acknowledging the problem (including mitigating the propaganda & the denial).
Step 2 is changing human activities so they align with sustaining ecology. Therefore, sustaining our civilisations.
Fundamentally, this is the recognition (cultural level realisation) of what is in our species long term interests. Sustaining ecology is the ultimate long term investment plan.
